MICMoR Career Day 2016
KIT/IMK-IFU, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany
November 8, 2016, 9 am - 6 pm

The MICMoR Career Day is tailored to interested MICMoR Fellows, doctoral students and postdocs at IMK-IFU who are considering their next career steps. It offers the unique opportunity to get a glimpse into different career paths and options, ranging from academia, industry, governmental institutions, research management and others. For this event, we invited people with a background in natural, environmental and earth system sciences (studies and/or PhD), who either ventured into a classical academic career (University, University of Applied Sciences, non-university research organization), into research in industry, into scientific publishing, governmental organizations and ministries, research management, foundations etc. All speakers gave 20min presentations on their professional development and their current tasks and were available for questions during coffee breaks.

1st Spitzenforscherwerkstatt

Environmental Science Summit
Zugspitze - Top of Germany, July 16-17, 2014

The Spitzenforscherwerkstatt presented an opportunity for 23 early-career scientists to meet and interact with experienced and highly successful environmental scientists in an inspiring alpine setting at Germany’s highest research station, the Environmental Research Station Schneefernerhaus on Mount Zugspitze. The workshop fostered exchange and discussion about career paths and lifestyle choices, about the challenges to succeed in a research world faced by increasingly complex questions.
The event was organized by KIT’s Institute of Meteorology and Climate Research – Atmospheric Environmental Research in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (IMK-IFU) and its Helmholtz Research School MICMoR, on the occasion of the institute’s 60th anniversary celebrations, July 16-18, 2014.
